greek food festival, 2004.
this is shilpa. she`s also malayalee and xtian. shilpa went to the same amazingly fun high school that veena, eileen perfume and i attended. we grew up with her, but our families aren`t as close as they once were (post-daddy`s passing, that is). that sucks, b/c i really miss her dad; he was one of my favourite uncles when i was younger-- he`s hilarious and was really sweet to daddy. i`ll always adore him for that...my father had a lot of friends, but only a few of them really made his face light up. i`m not sure what went down betwixt parents...it`s just sad how certain people make choices, perhaps thoughtlessly and it irrecovably alters everything, forever.
anyway, as is apparent, i was pleasantly shocked to see her at the food festival.
guess what? like every other human i know, she`s in law school. and i remember when people thought i was a strange ten-year old for aiming for it. sigh.
