STRAIGHTEN UP! THE BEST IN REGGAE AND SKA Straighten Up! neix de la unió de Moonshot Reggae Club i The Soul Tops amb la intenció d' oferir mensualment festes d' ska i reggae a la Ciutat Comptal amb els nostres dos DJs residents Bazza (italià afincat a Igualada) i Dani Alpha Boys qui combinaràn clàssics, versions i temes més raros per tal de mantenir la pista sempre plena. El nostre local està ubicat al número 32 del carrer Llançà, a 5 minuts de Plaça Espanya, pel que teniu moltes combinacions de metro, bus i ferrocarril per arribar-hi. Els preus de barra són molt correctes tenint en compte la ciutat en la que vivim, i l' entrada valdrà 3 euros. Perquè StraightenUp! ? Any 1970, la mítica discogràfica Trojan Records treu al mercat el primer vòlum del recopilatori Tighten Up, que recull un grapat d' exits de la companyia. Aquesta serie d' LPs serà la millor opció per a la butxaca dels joves anglesos per coneixer aquella nova música que els seus nous veïns antillans porten sota el braç. Conscient de la gran acollida dels recopilatoris, la rival de Trojan, Pama Records, decideix al 1971 oferir uns discos similars anomentats STRAIGHTEN UP, una clara contraoferta als Tighten Up de Trojan. I aquesta és la idea del nostre club, oferir la major quantitat de bona música jamaicana de qualitat a baix preu. Esperem que no falteu a la cita amb un dels pocs clubs regulars on únicament es punxarà música jamaicana de mitjans dels 60s a principis dels 70s: de l' ska al reggae passant pel rocksteady, sempre afegint una mica de DJ style. Los precios en barra son muy correctos teniendo en cuenta la ciudad en la que vivimos, y la entrada costará 3 euros. Porque StraightenUp! ? Este serie de LPs sería la mejor opción para los bolsillos de los jovenes ingleses para conocer aquella nueva música que sus nuevos vecinos antillanos traen bajo el brazo. Consciente de la gran acogida de estos recopilatorios, la rival de Trojan, Pama Records, decide en 1971 ofrecer unos discos similares llamados STRAIGHTEN UP, una clara contraoferta a los Tighten Up de Trojan. Y esta es la idea de nuestro club, ofrecer la mayor cantidad de musica jamaicana de calidad a bajo precio. Esperamos que no faltéis a la cita con uno de los pocos clubs regulares donde únicamente se pinchará música jamaicana de mediados de los 60s a principios de los 70s: desde el ska al reggae pasando por el rocksteady siempre añadiendo un poco de DJ style. THE BEST IN REGGAE AND SKA Straighten Up! is the result of the unity between Moonshot Reggae Club and The Soul Tops, trying to offer monthly ska and reggae parties in Barcelona, with our DJs Bazza (born italian but now living in Igualada, Catalonia) and Dani Alpha Boys who will play both classics, versions and rarer tunes always trying to keep the dancefloor burning. The venue is located in the 32 Llançà street, very near to Plaça Espanya, so you've got lot of metro, bus and train options to come to our club. Drink prices are quite good for the prices you can find in Barcelona, and entrance ticket is only 3 euros. Why our name Straighten Up! ? 1970, the legendary Trojan Records starts selling the first volume of the famous Tighten Up compilations with a bunch of hits issued on the Trojan labels. This is a cheap way for the young british kids of knowing the new music that their new caribbean neighbours are carrying with them from Jamaica. In front of this, Trojan's rival Pama Records decide one year later in 1971 to issue a similar kind of records called STRAIGHTEN UP, of course named that way trying to fight in the market with Trojan's Tighten Up series. So this is the idea of our club, offering tons of quality jamaican music for a cheap price.
