The best thing about Bagels on the Square is that it opens early, early, early. And although there is a wide of variety of cream cheese flavors to choose from and all the modern flavors of bagels (blueberry is not my idea of a bagel, but if it is for you
) are available too. Be warned: these are not real bagels. These are the big, fluffy, cake-y kind that have infiltrated New York in the past decade or two as the traditional Jewish delis have disappeared. (Just try to find a half-sour anywhere
these days.)
A bagel should be about half the size of these and it should be dense and chewy. But since that barely exists anymore, these will have to do when you want a bagel with a schmear.

So good to hear from you. Hope all`s well. Continue to enjoy your neighborhood pictures. As part of an assessment project I was involved in a few years ago, I started creating a lot-by-lot photo file of the buildings on the main avenue that runs along the oceanfront. The pictures weren`t distinctive. But for some historian, they`ll constitute an interesting slice of time. Your pictures will do the same.

I really miss bagels in New York. Well, we have a "Bagel café" here with all kinds of fillers like salmon, beef and what not. But I just prefer those plain old and hard bagels with cream cheese.
