RRRRRRR is the first Gothic Rock band from Uruguay RRRRRRRR is an UNDERGROUND band that has always released its music in an independent way Before beginning RRRRRRR, Lady Ego had previously given his voice to the band Insurrección (1986-1987), but after the band went their separate ways, Lady Ego began to experiment and develop his ideas in collaboration with others, until the first line-up of the band was defined, around 1988 After a year of rehearsal, RRRRRRR played their first gig at the theatre "El Tinglado" in Montevideo, Uruguay After this gig, which was witnessed by 160 people, the press defined RRRRRRR as a: "gothic rock band" Things developed further in May of 1990, when they recorded their first and second demo tapes: "Núbeses Peleando" and "Frío" They continued to record music and as the years passed by, RRRRRRR experimented and instituted several changes to their repertoire by investigating new sounds and trying out different instruments in their music, such as: keyboards, rhythm machines, and two to three guitars in their live performances Also, one thing that can be said of RRRRRRR is that they have always edited and recorded independently For over twenty years, RRRRRRR has been playing Montevideo's underground circuit In their long history, the band has had the opportunity to travel and perform in mythical places as "Juntacadáveres", "La Cueva" and "Amarillo", as well as touring in Buenos Aires - Argentina twice (which has been the only RRRRRRR shows outside Uruguay, thus far) Their current musical development has led them to expand to include: a percussive base, which points to primitive and minimalist rhythms, a solid, constant bass line, and guitars and synths which help create an atmosphere where one can hear the vocalist lyrically interceding, to give birth to moments of brilliant darkness Today, the current members of RRRRRRR are: Velvet Hierophant - Guitar, Lady Ego - Vocals & Guitar, Ambarette - Drums, Angel Slade - Bass, Alejo - Keyboards; and despite several member changes, it should be noted that RRRRRRR is the only "gothic" band from that era in Uruguay that is still on the road, faithful to its style today The first The last The eternal
