I was out last night trying to shoot time-lapse video on Broadview Avenue. The new camera's video function seems to have difficulties staying in focus at night. I'll have to use something with manual focus for the night shots. Anyway, while trying to get things to work, I snapped this classic Toronto Red Rocket streetcar clattering across the Gerrard & Broadview intersection.

When I was a boy in Sao Paulo (I was born in NY, it's complicated) the red street cars like this one but more old fashioned were called in Portuguese Shrimps.

Great! I love night pictures! But I think it is better to take them when there is just a little light left. I was out yesterday in the late afternoon to take a night shot of a special house, which I like very much. There was a lot of snow there and the temperature was minus 5 Celsius, and when I wanted to cykle home again the gearshift on my bicycle was frozen! As were my fingers and toes! But I got my picture!

Fighting the good fight for good language with the most effective weapon there is: ridicule. Photographs on our wall of shame document trespasses against clarity, inadvertent blunders, and of course the ineffable grocer's apostrophe. Come for the pics, stay for the comments.
