Pandora enjoying some sun

My biggest puss, the lovely, very huggy Pandora, who loves being picked up and snuggling up in my arms, purring away as she does. She's in the emergency vets today, very ill. Last few days she seemed out of sorts, yesterday she gave the impression of something being wrong with her, but no being sick, or the runs, still eating a bit and moving around. Sunday morning her sister Cassie wakes me, soon as I sat up in bed I hear a whimper from below, Pandora had curled up under the bed during the night.

Tried to pick her up and she was utterly limp in my arms, she could barely move, got her through to living room, lay her gently on sofa, she's barely moving even her head. Attempt to make vet appointment for tomorrow is no longer option, call the weekend emergency vet, which turns out to be miles away on other side of town. Thank goodness my pal nearby, the one who owns Bruce the dog, came round right away with his car and drove us up there. Body temperature seriously low, dehydrated (even tho I saw her drinking) and low blood sugar, low blood circulation but heart beating strongly.

Stayed while they ran test on her, not sure what is causing it and worries about other age related medical conditions she may have too (she is over 13 now), she's in an incubator and on a glucose and saline drip. Called vet back now and she says she has responded to them, back into the safe zone but still not sure what caused it or how quickly she could relapse. And she can't see. Side effect of the low blood sugar, hopefully eyesight should return as her body chemistry normalises. I've to call again tonight but suspect that is for my morale, they will keep her overnight, get her tomorrow then take to my normal vet nearer home. Bill is mounting up too, of course, especially as it is weekend emergecny vet. Worried sick, when she was limp in my arms this morning I thought we were losing her, she had faded so much since just last night. Cassie is wandering around as if looking for her sister, they have never been apart. Not out of the woods yet, still worried sick over my gorgeous wee girl

Sorry to hear about Pandora, Joe. Very worrying for you and Cassie.

Our Jim is 14 and a bit of a senile delinquent, rather incontinent and constantly complaining about the poor service. He still purrs a lot, though, as always.

I hope tomorrow brings better news for you, anyway.
We'll be thinking of you.

Gosh, Joe, what a horror story for you and your beautiful purry girl. Let's hope medical attention manages to patch her up and restore her safe and sound into your arms!
